Our Partners
EPIR Technologies, Inc.
In February 2008, Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc. and Illinois-based EPIR Technologies, Inc. finalized an exclusive partnership to develop advanced solar photovoltaic (PV) and encapsulant technologies. Together, the companies are developing a solar PV encapsulant that will eliminate the need for glass encapsulants. Through this partnership, Sunovia and EPIR have formed a foundation for accelerating and commercializing this proprietary encapsulation technology that will ultimately reduce the overall cost of solar energy. Innovative manufacturing methods are being developed by Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc. and EPIR Technologies, Inc. to produce low-cost, high-efficiency multijunction solar cells, modules and systems for space, and concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) applications.
EPIR Technologies is the world leader in the growth of high-quality crystalline CdTe on Si by molecular beam epitaxy and in the growth of multilayer structures of group II-VI semiconductors on that CdTe for infrared sensing. Because of its expertise and knowledge of II-VI semiconductors and their interfaces gained in the infrared detection arena, EPIR Technologies is uniquely well positioned to move rapidly into the high-throughput manufacture of the II-VI multijunction solar cells that theory tells us will greatly reduce the cost of CPV generated electricity and of ultra-high efficiency solar cells for space.
